Salthill Beach

Salthill beach proudly boasts blue flag status, making it an ideal and safe place to swim for all ages. Salthill Beach is popular all year round but especially in the Summer months and a popular location for visitors along with the Blackrock diving board nearby being a haven of activity. Lifeguards are on duty from mid-May to the end of September. Salthill beach is made up of several small beaches which are separated by outcrops. There is a mixture of both sandy and pebble beaches providing a variety of choices for all.

Salthill Promenade

Salthill Promenade is 2 kilometres in length and is a hugely popular walk for both locals and visitors. As well as overlooking Galway Bay, the Aran Islands are visible to the right and Galway City to the left on a bright clear day. Do not forget to kick the wall! Walk the length of the Salthill promenade and at the end, there is a wall that you are meant to kick. Kicking the wall is a well-known local tradition that is meant to bring you good luck.
